My studio's mission is: EMPOWERING MUSICAL ARTISTS What does that mean?
I offer a supportive, personalized teaching approach.
I empower my students with transparent tools of healthy & expressive singing.
My students regularly win roles in musicals, sing with All-State Choir, NW ACDA Honor Choir, earn top scores at Solo & Ensemble Contests and NATS adjudications, win scholarships, and go on to major in music and theatre.
I am an experienced performer with engagements locally & across the United States, including: Portland Opera Chorus, Hochschule für Musik und Theater München in Munich, Germany, Queer Opera, Experiments in Opera, Really Spicy Opera, Opera Theatre Oregon, the Resonance Ensemble, Third Angle New Music, Lark Opera, New Music Gathering, and more.
I am a specialist in classical and musical theatre styles and have an extensive classical voice & acting/theatre background. My students study all styles, and I support their interests, including musical theatre styles, classical singing, ensemble singing in choirs, and more. I do not push any specific style of singing or area of repertoire.
I am an highly educated teacher with a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Voice Performance & Pedagogy and additional coursework in contemporary techniques such as belting and pop styles at the New CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University. In addition, I trained at the Cortona Sessions for New Music in Italy, Midwest Institute of Opera in Illinois, American Singers' Opera Project in North Carolina, and Vancouver International Song Institute in British Columbia.
My studio welcomes and affirms LGBT+ students.
Please note: for the safety of my family and the studio, in-person voice lessons are available in SW Portland (off Capitol Highway exit) for fully vaccinated and boosted singers. Online lessons available for all.
My studio in SW Portland is air conditioned--perfect for escaping our summer heatwaves!
